Nintendo delays Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Nintendo are one of the oldest gaming companies in the world and also the world’s largest portable video game maker. They are increasingly facing competition from the Sony and Microsoft products in the gaming console market. Sony also recently launched the Playstation Portable handheld console to compete with Nintendo’s products in the market in the form of Gameboy Advance and the DS (Dual Screen). The latest news is not good for the company either…
Reports in claims that the company has decided to delay the launch of the highly anticipated game: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The company had expected this game to be a best seller and help it in the market to compete with its bigger competing companies. However, this latest news means that the game would miss out on the huge customer base during the Christmas holidays. The company does not expect to see this game out in the market before the April of next year.
Nintendo is already reporting falling profits as the Sony Playstation Portable has become a best seller in the Japanese and American market. The company is further hurt by the high cost of launching new products. This delay adds to the woes of the gaming legend. The company has also announced that they are cutting the price of its DS handheld device from $150 (£83) to $130 to compete better against the Sony PSP.
The company would launch a new pet game for the DS later this week called Nintendogs, a game where players must care for a puppy. They are also planning to launch the Game Boy Micro, a mobile-phone sized player that is expected to cost below USD 100.
