AMD launches Turion MT-40 and MT-37 for Mobile Computers
AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) has constantly put pressure on the market leaders Intel in the microprocessor segment. Their latest products would be doing the same as the company launched two brand new processors aimed at the mobile segment. The surprise element is that the processors are geared for gaming audience in mind and this would bring smiles on lot of users who wanted a gaming optimized processors for their laptops.
The company has launched Turion MT-40 and MT-37 chips and these are available for the manufacturers of Personal Computers are prices of $359 and $268, respectively, in bulk amounts. VoodooPC has already committed itself to develop laptops for the retail market based on these processors and more are expected to follow-up. Acer is the other company, which would love to make use of these processors to target the gamers on the move.
AMD with these new launches have 12 64-bit Turion processors available for thinner and lighter notebooks. Their Turion range of processors are optimized to be used for notebooks and laptops ass they consume less battery power than its Athlon Mobile series. Athlon Mobile series in its turn is used for desktop replacement Mobile Solutions for corporates. The company is actively targeting the Intel’s Centrino range of processors for the mobile PCs.
Market experts believe that the announcement from AMD has come at an appropriate time as the competition in Intel is going to hold its Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco later this week. Intel is expected to announce their new products and a new platform on which they are planning to develop their new processors. These processors would now heat up the debate on what Intel would announce in their show to counter the publicity generated by these new AMD Chips.
