Facebook disables Scrabulous for US and Canadian users
Facebook has finally taken the decision and they have now disabled Scrabulous game for their US and Canada based visitors.
They had to take this action after Hasbro complained about copyright violation related to the game.
Hasbro owns the rights to the Scrabble game in these two nations. Scrabulous is the unofficial version of the game which has become massively popular on the social network.
Facebook said in a note on the website: “Scrabulous is disabled for U.S. and Canadian users until further notice.”
Barry Nagler, Hasbro’s general counsel had this to say: “Hasbro has an obligation to act appropriately against infringement of our intellectual properties. We view the Scrabulous application as clear and blatant infringement of our Scrabble intellectual property, and we are pursuing this legal action in accordance with the interests of our shareholders, and the integrity of the Scrabble brand.”
