Video game sales up 28 percent in July
July was a good month for the videogame industry as the sales went up by around 28 percent.
NPD Group said in a report that consumers bought $446.9 million worth of video game hardware which alone is a 17 percent jump compared to last year in the same month.
Nintendo DS was the best selling handheld gaming console in the US market with sales of 608,400 units.
Nintendo Wii was the best selling console with sales of 555,000 units in the US market.
Playstation 3 dominated Xbox 360 once again. Sony also managed to sell 155,500 units of their age old Playstation 2 gaming console.
The report added that customers purchased $591.1 million worth of gaming software during July.
