Sony Playstation Portable is a hit in Britain

Sony has finally launched the much-awaited Sony Playstation Portable in the United Kingdom and it has broken all previous records for a gaming console in the country for sales. The company has had an amazing week with their small screen gaming device and they sold around 185,000 units of the system within the first three days of the launch! The company had apparently imagined the demand for their product and seems to be well prepared for it.

The sales figures were released by UK market analysts Chart-Track and it breaks the older record held by Nintendo DS. Nintendo managed to sell only around 87,000 units in its first weekend back in March. The sales figure also show the demand market had for the Sony Playstation Portable ever since it was launched first in Japan and later in the United States.

Sony had to delay the European launch considering the incredible demand from existing markets. This had led to a situation where the company felt that they would not be able to meet the increased demand from as large a market as the entire of Europe. This resulted in the delayed launch of Sony Playstation Portable in the UK by almost an entire year.

The market had claimed that the company would face immensely shortage of supplies but looking at the figures, we can safely assume that they did well considering the enthusiasm in the consumer base.
