Videogame pirates being targeted in UK
People who are sharing and downloading pirated videogames on the web have something to fear about in UK.
A woman has been ordered to pay damages worth £16,000 after it was proved that she did download a computer game from the web.
The game was Topware Interactive’s Dream Pinball 3D. Incidentally, the game itself cost just around £26.
The courts have ordered her to pay damages of just over £6,000 in addition to costs of £10,000.
Company lawyer David Gore spoke about this judgment: “The damages and costs ordered by the court are significant and should act as a deterrent. This shows that taking direct steps against infringers is an important and effective weapon in the battle against online piracy.”
