Day of Defeat: Source to come soon to Steam

Developers of the very popular videogame Half-Life 2, Valve has announced that they would soon be releasing Day of Defeat: Source via their online distribution mechanism Steam. The release is expected to come this month itself. The company said: “Once we do have an exact date and time for when the game will be activated, we’ll let everyone know.” They are also expected to enable users to pre-order and preload the game via Steam, giving them the ability to unlock and play as soon as it is activated.

Day of Defeat: Source would be available for individual purchase from Steam and would also be sold as part of the Counter-Strike: Source retail package that will be available at stores around the same time. The company would automatically allow Half-Life 2: Silver and Gold package customers to play this mod.

What is Day of Defeat? It is a class-based multiplayer add-on and has a World War II theme. The mod was pretty amateurish in the beginning and has now taken a professional approach as the company chose to adopt it officially. Valve has advised the fans of their games: “While we’re not quite ready to pin down the exact date of when it will be available to play, we are confident that it will happen in September.”

This news would make a lot of Counter Strike fans happy…
