SEGA announce Sonic and other games for PS3 and Xbox 360

Japanese publisher SEGA has announced a flurry of games for the next generation gaming consoles expected to be out in the next couple of months. While Microsoft would be launching the Xbox 360 this year itself, Sony would be out with their Sony Playstation 3 next year. Sega has now confirmed a variety of games for both these gaming consoles, as they would also be developing a brand new version of Sonic the Hedgehog for both the consoles.

The company is trying hard to reinvent their older games and the latest outing for Sonic is being developed by Yuji Naka, who helped create the original Sonic the Hedgehog game on the SEGA MegaDrive in 1991. Sega expects Naka to help create the most intense sensation of speed ever experienced in videogames and they would be helped by the power and capabilities of the next generation gaming consoles.

Sega also plans to take the design of the game back to its origins of some 15 years ago and would be focusing on the intense speed and platform action, which helped them succeed in the older days. Sonic will be released on Xbox 360 and later on PS3 sometime in 2006, though the company has not released any confirmed dates for the launch of this software.

Other games planned for launch in 2006 is Chromehounds; a mech-combat game in development by From Software.
