Sony recalls Playstation 2 adaptors for safety reasons
Entertainment industry giant and the makers of the popular gaming consoles Playstation, Sony has made a massive recall for about 3.6 million adaptors used in its best-selling PlayStation 2 game console. This recall is due to possible fire hazards and overheating problems with these adaptors and these consoles with defective adaptors have been shipped throughout the world.
The defective adaptors were manufacturer between four months ending December 2004 and were delivered to the global markets in the world starting November 2004. Sony made this announcement through a press statement made today. The company would be replacing these defective adopters free of charge.
Sony has said that around 2.3 million units are affected in Europe, 960,000 units in North America, 210,000 units in Asia, and 60,000 units in Japan. However, they have not released the financial expense behind this recall. Impressively, Sony has sold more than 91 million units of the PS2 as of June as per the company sources.
