Activision believes older games would get cheaper
With Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft due to launch their next generation gaming machines in the coming months, the game developer Activision believes that the current generation games would become cheaper to buy. Activision Inc. Chief Executive Robert Kotick speculated that gaming companies would sell these games at cheaper prices considering the demand for the next generation games would increase.
Microsoft is due to launch their highly awaited gaming console Xbox 360 on U.S. store shelves on November 22. Sony is due to launch their Sony Playstation 3 sometime next year and so is Nintendo with their Evolution gaming console. Most current generation gaming titles start selling at USD 49.99 and see progressive price cuts.
Robert Kotick said in a statement: “You’re likely to see price declines on the older- generation software.” However, the trends would become a bit clearer only next year when these new gaming consoles would actually enter the retail stores. Activision is one of the biggest game publisher in the market and have plans to launch: “Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland,” Western-themed shooter “Gun,” “Call of Duty 2″ and “Quake 4” for the Xbox 360 in the coming months.
