PlayStation Home for PS3 finally arriving in beta form

Sony Computer Entertainment is finally set to launch its Home online virtual environment.

This service is designed for the company’s Playstation 3 gaming console.

It would be available to all PS3 owners from tomorrow.

This service would enable PS3 owners to have their own avatars who can participate in a virtual world.

This service is similar to Second Life but on this popular gaming console.

Kaz Hirai, president and CEO of Sony’s gaming unit spoke about the launch of this service which has seen several delays already: “We are committed to providing PS3 users with exciting gaming experiences with PlayStation Home and together with our partners and users, expand the new world of interactive entertainment as we move forward.”

Playstation Home would initially support “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune,” “Far Cry 2,” “Warhawk Resistance” and “Guitar Hero” games.

The company is working with Activision, Disney Eidos, Electronic Arts, Lucas Arts, THQ and Ubisoft to expand the support to other videogames for the Playstation 3 platform.
