Apple: iPhone is a rival to Nintendo DS
Apple has somewhat claimed that their Apple iPhone mobile device is also a challenger to the portable gaming devices like the Nintendo DS and Sony Playstation Portable.
Apple Director of Technology Evangelism John Geleynse said in a statement: “It’s not a phone, it’s a console experience.”
He said that videogame developers should code games for this platform just like a dedicated gaming machine.
Apple App Store already is home to hundreds of games that can be played on iPhone and iPod Touch.
Electronic Arts has already announced that they would be hosting special events at flagship Apple retail stores in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco during December to promote the iPhone and iPod touch as gaming platforms.
They would be showcasing their own games at these events.
