Microsoft has no plans to release a new generation Xbox console in the near future
Owners of Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console have some good news.
The company has no plans to launch a new generation console to take over from the Xbox 360.
Microsoft believes that the current generation console is still powerful and capable enough to last few more years.
Robbie Bach President of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices division said in a statement: “Just coming up with something that’s faster and prettier isn’t going to be sufficient. The life cycle for this generation of consoles — and I’m not just talking about Xbox, I’d include Wii and PS3 as well — is probably going to be a little longer than previous generations.”
Microsoft Xbox 360 was launched in 2005.
Sony and Nintendo launched their PS3 and Wii the next year.
Sony has stated in the past that they are looking at a 10 year long life for the PlayStation 3 console.
