Sony releases another firmware update for Playstation Portable
Sony faces the tough battle of beating the hackers every time they release a patch for the firmware released by the company to enable the users to use mods available on the net. The company has just released another minor update to their firmware and with this; the system has reached the version 2.50. This update brings support for copyright-protected video content to the small screen gaming console.
The update also includes support for watching video over wireless networks using Sony’s LocationFree technology, some small updates and bug fixes for the web browser. In addition, users can now set the time on their console by connecting directly to the internet. However, nothing spectacular as the version 2.0 was, which was launched a couple of months ago by the company.
However, the real reason behind this update is to fix the loophole in the previous upgrade, which allowed users to downgrade to version 1.5, thus enabling them to use homebrew software, emulators, and pirated games. Hacks were made available on the internet, which enabled the user to downgrade. Sony has launched this update in their Japanese and North American PSP market. Europe is scheduled to get it next.
