Zeebo to launch a videogame console for developing nations

Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 are the primary gaming consoles of this generation.

Zeebo wants to join them but it has a different targeted audience.

Instead of aiming for the American, European and Japanese market, it is designed for the gamers in developing markets like India, China, Brazil and Eastern Europe.

The developers believe that potential gamers in these markets are usually unable to buy the popular gaming consoles or the games for them.

Zeebo is going to be cheap as it is based on the cell phone technology developed by Qualcomm.

This console would not match the capabilities of the rival gaming consoles but the developers believe that the value for money factor would work in their favor.

Electronic Arts Inc., THQ Inc. and Activision Blizzard are some of the big gaming companies which are going to make available some of their titles on this new platform.
