Fallout 3 is the game of the year

Fallout 3 has been named the game of the year at the 9th annual Game Developers Choice Awards.

It managed to overcome challenge from some very awesome games including Grand Theft Auto: IV and Left 4 Dead.

Bethesda game director Todd Howard spoke about this achievement: “It’s the first time we’ve ever won this award, and to be given it by other game developers, with so many amazing games that could have won, well, we’re simply overjoyed. It’s very special to us.”

Fallout 3 in fact also managed to win the Best Writing award at the ceremony.

LittleBigPlanet was however the more popular winner at the event. It took several awards for game design technology, innovation and for the Best Debut Game of the year.

GDC content director Meggan Scavio spoke about the function: “The games being recognized here are virtuoso efforts that have truly advanced the state of video games. The Game Developers Conference has become the premiere videogame award show because it gives voice to those who understand games better than anyone; the people who make them.”
