Quake 4 for PC is out

It is pretty weird that this launch has been so low-key considering the earlier versions of this game practically started the very popular first person shoot out genre. The latest version of the Quake series, Quake 4 is out in retail stores today for the PC version and is selling at a premium price of $59.99. However, there is no information out on a possible launch date for a version for the upcoming Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console.

It has taken 5 years for the developers to launch this next iteration of this popular gaming series. Quake III: Team Arena was a huge success amongst the gamers and this new update is expected to be a huge success as well. The game is rated M and is being published by Activision. Maybe, the disappointing bit about this particular version is the fact that this version has not been developed by the id Software.

Instead, Quake 4 was developed at Middleton, Wisconsin-based Raven Software under id’s supervision. This game is also based on the gaming engine of the hugely popular Doom 3. The new thing about this update is that the game features a far-future conflict between humankind and the Strogg, an interstellar army of ghoulish cyborgs. Gamers would be more interested in knowing when the Xbox 360 version would be out!
