Microsoft makes their Xbox 360 controller PC compatible

Microsoft has interestingly unveiled a new controller for their soon to be launched Xbox 360 gaming console, which is now compatible with PCs powered by the Microsoft Windows Operating System. The company said in a statement that this updated controller is built to work with both the devices as they aim to converge their product offerings together in the longer run to benefit the consumer.

Chris Donahue, director of Windows gaming at Microsoft, said in a statement: “Gamers can simply unplug their controller from their Xbox 360 system and plug it into their Windows XP-based PC. This is a great breakthrough for the gaming industry as we make it easier for developers to create multiplatform titles.”

Microsoft also claimed that this new controller features a new design meant to improve ergonomics in addition to offer force feedback vibration support. They would make this controller available as an accessory in the market with the drive CDs to work with the Windows Operating System. People with Xbox 360 purchased can download the driver from the Microsoft’s website to get it to work with their PCs.

The company is going to sell this product for $39 in North America and plans to expand the markets in Asia and Europe.
