Microsoft acquires 3DV Systems

US based software giant Microsoft has confirmed that they are acquiring 3DV Systems.

3DV Systems is based in Israel and it specializes in advanced image sensing technology.

Microsoft is said to be using their technologies in the Project Natal product which is designed to complement Xbox 360 gaming console.

Microsoft corporate VP Moshe Lichtman said in a statement: “The [Microsoft] R&D center helped Microsoft in buying the intellectual property of 3DV Systems, and in the wake of that dozens of the company’s employees were recruited to work at the development center.”

The company however refused to comment on the company’s involvement in Project Natal.

Another company representative admitted: “We want to ensure that we have great intellectual property protection. You have to have a strong legal approach, and this is not easy stuff. It has to be all buttoned up, legally.”
