Sony Playstation Firmware 3.0 for PS3 would be a major update

Market sources claim that Sony would totally overhaul their Playstation 3 gaming console interface with the release of firmware 3.0.

Sony recently released the 2.8 firmware update for the Playstation 3 gaming console.

This update is being compared to the Microsoft’s New Xbox Experience update for the Xbox 360 gaming console.

Some of the new features that are likely to be introduced with this new rumoured update are:

Ability to rate other gamers on the network
Ability to report bad activities by others on the network
Ability to download updates and patches in the background
Ability to output HDMI video and digital optical audio simultaneously

A lot of more changes are expected as the company would want to reignite the interest in their gaming console.

Sony is already scheduled to launch some great new games for the PS3 platform this year.
