Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite could soon cost just USD 299

If we are to believe the latest reports in the media, Microsoft is scheduled to drop the price of their Xbox 360 Elite variant.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite could soon cost as little as USD 299.

Sources say that the price cut could be announced before the end of the current month.

Market analysts also believe that the company could remove the middle edition of the Xbox 360 leaving behind just the Elite and Arcade editions.

If these rumours are true, Nintendo Wii would face formidable competition from Xbox 360 Elite which comes loaded with 120GB of storage space.

The price difference would be just USD 50 with Xbox 360 being a more capable gaming console.

Never mind the 360 putting pressure on the Wii, the 360 itself will be under intense pressure from the PS3 Slim if the leaked Best Buy ad is genuine – $299. Which would line up with the European rumour earlier in week cutting the PS3 from 399 to 299 Euro.

That’ll put the PS3 at the same price as the 360. It’s every bit as capable a games console as the 360, plus has the BluRay player, wireless networking, free online play, cheaper accessories (e.g. standard HDDs).

If the PS3 Slim does arrive at $299, expect to see MS cutting the Elite by at least another $50 pretty damn quickly, forcing Nintendo into a similar price cut.
