Nintendo releases details of Wi-Fi service for the UK

Japanese gaming giant Nintendo has released details on its soon to be launched free Wi-Fi service for the UK. It is due to be out by November 25 and they are calling it the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. It would run on The Cloud network and the BT Openzone wireless service. Nintendo is offering this service to encourage the online play between the Nintendo game console owners.

CEO of The Cloud, George Polk said in a statement about their upcoming service: ‘Consumer Wi-Fi has finally arrived, and in a big way. Now hundreds of thousands of Nintendo users can play networked games when they are out and about, while they are waiting for a train, walking to meetings, at shopping malls, at the football, and many other places.”

The gamers would have to locate one of the 7,500 Wi-Fi hotspots around the UK to get access to this gaming service on the move. Some of the participants in this program are food joints like McDonalds, Coffee Republic, Hilton and Ramada Jarvis hotels, and Road Chef and Welcome Break service stations. Nintendo DS would be the first console to support this upcoming service. The upcoming Nintendo Revolution would further benefit from it. Nintendo is planning to expand this service across Europe with partnerships with different players in the market.
