Microsoft Xbox 360 goes on sale tomorrow

Software giant Microsoft would become the first of the three videogame console makers to bring out their next generation gaming console, Xbox 360 in the market tomorrow. Both Sony and Nintendo are not due to launch their own consoles Playstation 3 and Revolution until next year. This gives Microsoft an edge that the company expects would help them become the market leader overtaking the current giants Sony.

Microsoft was late in their entry into this market when they launched their Xbox much later to Sony Playstation 2. However, this time they have the time advantage and they are aiming to make good use of it. They are just in time to benefit from the holiday season in the North American market and are aggressively targeting the Sony’s domestic market of Japan as well.

Market experts have already labeled the Xbox 360 a must have on this holiday season’s shopping lists for the consumers and they believe that the console with its launch timing is expected to be a huge success. In addition, Microsoft is also going to launch the console in Europe on December 2 and Japan on December 10, before being released in the rest of the world next year. This is the first time any company has launched a mass targeted product at such a large scale in such a small duration of time.

Microsoft Xbox 360 also comes equipped with a DVD player capable also of handling CDs and digital photographs through a built-in Windows Media Center. The company is positioning it as not just a gaming machine but also an entire entertainment console for the entire family. It also supports the iPod and high-definition televisions.
