Microsoft affirms their commitment to videogaming consoles
Microsoft launched their Xbox 360 gaming console today. It is the second such gaming console from the company as they work hard on overcoming the competition provided by the market leaders Sony with their Playstation range of gaming consoles. Nintendo is the third major player in the market and both Sony and Nintendo are due to launch their new consoles sometime next year.
Sony is due to launch Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo would be entering the market with the secretive Nintendo Revolution gaming console. Microsoft on their part has said that they are committed to the development of these gaming consoles. And no matter how successful the Xbox 360 is, their development cycle would continue in the future.
Microsoft chairperson Bill Gates was talking to Reuters when he said that this is just the beginning of a new era – and that even if the 360 does not take the market lead this time round, MS will continue to develop console hardware. Gates said: “We’ll play again. We learned a lot in the first round. We’ve got a chance not just to have higher market share, but also to grow the size of this market substantially.”
Gates is pretty optimistic about their Xbox 360 gaming console and claims that Xbox 360 was a better machine than its rivals. The Xbox 360 will launch in Europe next, on December 2. The console will then hit Japan on December 10.
