As expected, Microsoft Xbox 360 has seen a blockbuster opening in the retail market and most of the stores have already run out of their initial stocks. And interestingly, as predicted by the market analysts, most of the gamers have gone for the more expensive variant of the Xbox 360, which comes with a hard disk and other goodies. Many consumers were in fact furious that Microsoft wasted resources on releasing a no-frills-edition.

The shortage also meant that many gamers were left frustrated with no units left for them at the stores. Many original buyers In fact reportedly made a fortune selling them on eBay. Most of the retailers were out of stock within minutes of the launch. Market expects believe that this shortage would last for a while as the craze for this new gaming console is expected to last for a couple of weeks.

Once the supplies meet the demand in the market, the rush would slow down. However, Microsoft won’t get much time to breathe as they are going to launch Xbox 360 in a couple of days in the European market, which is expected to generate similar scenes in retail stores. After than it’s the home market of their prime competitor Sony, Japan where Xbox 360 would make its appearance for the first time on December 10.
