Microsoft to have 300,000 Xbox 360 in stock for Europe launch

After looking at the craze for their new gaming console Xbox 360 at the launch in the US market, software giant Microsoft is aiming for a smoother beginning in the European market. The company plans to have around 300,000 Xbox 360 units in stock for the launch in Europe scheduled for December 2.

Chris Lewis, the Microsoft executive responsible for the Xbox in Europe was quoted as saying to a media group: Industry analysts’ estimates of 300,000 Xbox 360s available at launch were not far removed from reality. Xbox 360 has been a smash hit in the Microsoft’s home market with most of the retail stores running out of stock within hours of the launch.

The console is still very high in demand with many of the original owners making a fortune by selling it at inflated prices on bidding sites like eBay. However, a similar scenario cannot be ruled out in the European market as it is expected to be a total sell out here as well. Microsoft is aiming to sell more than 3 million units within 3 months of the launch and the way it is selling in the market, they should be easily able to achieve that target.

Microsoft rivals in this market Sony and Nintendo are both going to launch their next generation consoles Playstation 3 and Revolution sometime next year.

Complete and utter joke trying to get hold of a XBox 360.
A store that my mum went to had 14 in stock and she was 4th in the line. And she didn’t get one as about 20+ people went under the shutters as the store was opening.

Microsoft have made a complete joke of only sending 300,000 consoles to europe.
