Sony Playstation 3 to have parent control as well
Both Microsoft and Nintendo have announced integration of parental control mechanism on their latest gaming consoles, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Revolution. This kind of feature edition enables the parents to control the kind of games their kids can play on the console by setting up suitable game rankings. Now, Sony has become the latest of the video game console makers to announce parental controls in it newest machine, Sony Playstation 3.
Sony is due to launch their Playstation 3 sometime next year and this feature edition would bring some relief to the parents of the gamer kids. Until now Playstation 2, owners could limit access to content on movies and not games for their kids. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 lets users restrict access to video games and DVDs that carry certain ratings, such as “T” for “teen” or “M” for “mature”.
In fact, Xbox 360 also lets the parents of the kid’s parental controls on the company’s Xbox Live online gaming service, limiting whom their children can interact with. Sony on their part added this parental control service on their Playstation Portable, which was launched earlier this year.
Doug Lowenstein, president of the Entertainment Software Association had this to say about parental control over the quality of games available in the market: “With the average age of game players now 30, our industry naturally creates content appropriate for a wide range of audiences, just as there are TV shows, films, music and books for people of all tastes, interests and values.”
