Nintendo Revolution to be unveiled on May 9, 2006

Nintendo has finally revealed the date when they would be unveiling their next generation gaming console Nintendo Revolution. The date has been set at May 9, 2006. The company had till now revealed little about this console and this news brings some relief to the Nintendo fans who are waiting for the replacement of the GameCube gaming console from the company.

They already have announced that the console would play NES, SNES, N64, and GameCube games and have displayed a mock-up of the console form factor and its innovative controller, which looks like a remote control. Nintendo is now destined to reveal all the incredible details about Nintendo’s upcoming games and hardware including the new console at its press briefing before next year’s E3 expo.

Their competitors Microsoft has already launched their own next generation gaming console Xbox 360 earlier this month and has had a hugely successful beginning. Sony is due to launch their own Playstation 3 next year and has not yet revealed any details on its launch date. Nintendo would really need to do something special to handle the pressure of its bigger rivals in the market, which once they dominated.
