Microsoft recalls the backwards-compatibility update for the Xbox 360
Software giants Microsoft recently launched the much in news next generation gaming console, Xbox 360 in the market. It’s due to be launched in the Japanese market today and well it has been a smash hit in both the North American and European markets. The latest news on this gaming console is not good however.
Microsoft had to remove the backwards-compatibility update for the Xbox 360 video game console for the time being. The gaming console does not provide native support for the Xbox based videogames and the company was relying on software code, which was loaded on the optional hard disk to get the old games working.
The company promised to regularly update this software based emulator bringing support for Xbox games on the Xbox 360 gaming console. Microsoft just day before yesterday updated the backwards-compatibility list with eight games from the Tom Clancy series. These games were popular titles like Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon 2, Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike, Rainbow Six 3, Rainbow Six 3 Black Arrow, Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.
However, the joy for the owners of the Xbox 360 gaming console was short lived, as Microsoft had to later remove the updated backward compatibility update. Many gamers had reported problems with running Halo 2 after they installed the new Xbox 360 update. They are now working on an updated Halo 2 update before they re-release this new patch on the software emulator.
