Nintendo dominates Sony in small screen gaming devices
Nintendo continues to dominate the handheld gaming machine market despite all the efforts taken by the market leaders in video gaming console market, Sony. The NPD numbers are trickling in and it is still not confirmed, but Nintendo continues to dominate Sony Playstation Portable.
Sony had expected a better result especially after the Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto was released for their Sony PSP gaming machine. However, this popular game could not help the numbers for the entertainment giant as the sales of both Nintendo DS and the Nintendo Game Boy Advance managed to outsell the Sony portable individually.
However, NPD has gone on record claiming that the assumed figures are not accurate and their would be updated figures released in the near future. What is clear is that all these consoles have done brilliantly well in the market. Sony managed to sell more than 360,000 systems in the month of November. Nintendo DS on the other hand got more than 380,000 Nintendo DS machines out in the market.
The biggest winner of them all was the Game Boy Advance, with its newly released Micro design as well as the brand new, brighter SP system. GBA managed to outsell both these consoles comprehensively with 900,000 units sold in the month of November.

I think Sony stealing 28% of the market in 9 months (one year in Japan) is remarkable. Considering the PSP is outselling the PS2 (comparing its first year sales results) the PSP still has the chance to take a good share of the market. With Nintendo having at least a decade of sales prior to its DS release, Sony is doing rather well…
Very nice Nintendo!
