Xbox 360 shortage to continue for a while

Microsoft has entered in all the three major markets for videogame consoles with launches in United States, Europe, and Japan. However, most of these markets are still facing a regular supply of the Xbox 360 gaming console to meet the demand from the customers. Despite, reports of a not so hot demand from the Japanese, market, Microsoft has warned that the shortage of consoles would continue for a while as it cope up with the pressures of launching the console worldwide.

Such an extensive launch of a popular electronic device has never been attempted before by any other company and Microsoft dared to do that. However, if we ask the gamers who had to purchase their consoles from sites like eBay at inflated prices, they were not amused by this step taken by the software company. Many gamers in fact were furious on the fact that Microsoft wasted resources on creating the regular version of the console, which does not come with the external hard drive and other value added offerings.

Peter Moore, marketing and publishing corporate vice president of Microsoft’s home and entertainment division said in a statement: “Eventually we will catch up, who knows when that will be. Demand is just stunning, overwhelming.” He added: “We knew we had one of the hottest products for the holidays on our hands but even I was stunned by reports the next morning of fights breaking out and guns being drawn.”

EBay is selling these units from lucky owners in large numbers and at a huge premium. Microsoft even claims that their CEO Steve Ballmer is out of luck himself and is yet to get a unit for his kids. Now, that is hard to believe!
