King Kong for Xbox 360 problematic on regular televisions
If you are an owner of the recently launched and much in demand, Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console and you have a standard television set instead of the new craze in town High Definition TV set, you should avoid the King Kong game made for your console. The game developer Ubisoft has suggested that they made the game for the Xbox 360 optimized for the HD TV sets and the game is a bit too dark on the traditional television sets.
Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot admitted in a statement released to the media: “I’m a bit disappointed that we didn’t see it when we were developing the game.” The game has otherwise received great reviews and the other console versions are deemed fine for the regular television sets.
Ubisoft’s team worked closely with King Kong film director Peter Jackson and the reviews claim that they have succeeded in recreating the cinematic experience of the film. They have released versions for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC as well. The game for the Xbox 360 went on sale earlier this month and the owners of the newly launched Xbox 360 consoles have complained about the problems with their copies.
Guillemot added about the problems with Xbox 360 version on regular TV sets: “We have a problem on the 360. The screen is dark on some TVs and it totally changes the experience. When it’s dark, you don’t see where you have to go.” Most other games made today give an option to optimize the game play for different types of TVs. However, the developers of King Kong forgot to consider that option and are now working on fixing the problem.
