Mod chips for Xbox 360 round the corner

News reports in media claims that the modified versions of Xbox 360 gaming console might be just around the corner as hackers have claimed that they are nearing the stage of completion of the development of the mod chip. Software giant Microsoft became the first of the three main videogame console developers to launch the next generation gaming console Xbox 360 last month.

The company claimed that they learnt from their experiences with the original Xbox console and have taken efforts to prevent hacking of the new console. Some days back, reports came out that hackers were able to copy the content of original gaming CDs to the hard disks. However, making the Xbox 360 console play them was something not accomplished by then.

The latest reports however points to the fact that they might have succeeded in altering the composition of the Xbox 360 gaming console to play copied copies of the original gaming content. News sources quotes the hackers involved in the process: “Everyone of us is endeavoring to develop a mod chip with complete functions. With the chip, gamers will access all functions of Xbox360. We think the chip will be available at market in a couple of weeks. But as the first attempt, the first batch of chips may be complex and they may not function very well.”

The reports also claim that the pirated games for these modded gaming consoles should be out in the market in the next couple of months. Looks like it would be interesting to see how Microsoft responds to these reports of modded Xbox 360 devices coming out…
