Sony fans waits for the real deal Playstation 3
The battle of the next generation gaming consoles is due to be fought between Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony Playstation 3, and Nintendo Revolution. Microsoft had an early bird advantage as they have already launched their Xbox 360 gaming console in three of the world’s biggest markets for these gaming machines and Sony is expected to be next as they aim for a spring time launch of Playstation 3.
Microsoft has had massive success in their launch in the North American and European launch. However, Japan gave the company a cold shoulder as the home market of Sony seems to be more interested in waiting for the launch of the PS3. In fact, market research claims that many hard-core gamers are still divided on their opinion of choosing between these two consoles.
Surveys by gaming media channels have also shown that the fans of the current generation Playstation (Sony PS2) fans are eagerly waiting for the launch of the next version and have decided to skip the Xbox 360 for it. It seems like Microsoft has failed to break the hold of Sony on the gaming console market as they had aimed for by massively promoting their Xbox 360 in the Japanese market.
Market reports claim that Microsoft has barely sold around 44,000 Xbox 360 units in the home market of Sony and are still expecting the sales to pick up in the coming days. It would be interesting to see how Sony performs when they launch their PS3 sometime next year.

I know a lot of people who skipped the dreamcast in 99, waiting for the Playstation 2. Sounds like a similar sort of thing here. I don’t think anyone at Sony is losing ANY sleep these days.

Microsoft jumped the gun with the 360. They will fail to take the gamer market in this gen of consoles for the same reason they failed in the last gen. Sony and Nintendo both realize that flashy graphics are great, but in the end what gamers want is good games. Maybe Microsoft should focus more on repairing the security flaws in my OS and less on $$$.
