Microsoft fails to meet target sales figure of Xbox 360
Much has been said on the failure of the software giant Microsoft to get enough success in the Japanese market with their Xbox 360 gaming machine. However, the American market continues to show impressive demand for this console and the company is apparently failing to meet it with continues supplies.
Market analysts have claimed that these stock shortage means that Microsoft has failed to achieved the target they set themselves for the end of the year 2005. As per the report released by Goldman Sachs analyst Richard Sherlund, the company has so far sold around 1.3 million units, which is less than half of what they had aimed for the first quarter.
Microsoft had originally set themselves a target to sell at least 3 million units in the first three months of launch. Sherlund said in a statement: “It’s clear that something disrupted the supply of Xbox 360 shipments in the quarter, and there does not appear to be any end of year catch-up in shipments. It appears to us that Microsoft may be producing at 600,000 to 800,000 units per month, likely adequate to meet our estimate of 2 million units for the March quarter.”
He was supported by another market expert Gary Cooper from Bank of America who said that the company would be able to ship just around 200,000 Xbox 360 consoles by the end of the current month. There are also rumors in the market that something seems to have disrupted the regular production of the gaming consoles, which is leading to delays in shipment in the market.
