Amp’d handsets to get Electronic Arts mobile games
World’s largest producer of videogames would be bringing their games to the handsets of Amp’d Mobile. The two companies have announced a formal publishing partnership. This deal would see as many as top 15 mobile videogames from the stable of Electronic Arts made available on the Amp’d handsets.
Amp’d is a privately held company running its operations on rented space on the Verizon Wireless network. Their main clientele is basically youth mobile phone users and they offer advanced high-speed wireless services. This collaboration with EA would give them enough gaming content to attract more young customers to their services in US.
Some of the games EA would be porting to Amp’d devices are popular titles like “Madden NFL 06,” “Need for Speed Underground 2″ and “The Sims 2″ along with simpler games like “Poppit!” and “Tri-Peaks Solitaire” from EA’s Pogo.com online gaming service. Amp’d is aiming at providing a dedicated game channel around EA’s brand on their devices which would also be offering video previews, user ratings and other content in addition to game downloads.
Amp’d has MTV as one of their investors and they gain the advantage of getting content from their services for their mobile devices.
