Nintendo believes Revolution is a serious contender in the videogame console market
Nintendo believes that despite all the excitement about the possible Microsoft Xbox 360 vs. Sony Playstation 3 war, they are not to be taken lightly. The company is due to launch their own next generation gaming console Nintendo Revolution sometime this year and has generated little excitement in the media worldwide.
Most of the market is waiting for Sony to launch their Playstation 3 gaming console, which would be taking on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in the world markets. Microsoft has already launched their Xbox 360 which has seen a phenomenal launch in both the US and European markets. However, market reports claim that the company failed to meet their own expectations with the launch in the primary Japanese market, which is the home country of their rivals Sony.
Interestingly, not many people are taking Nintendo seriously in this war of the next generation gaming console market. The company has had phenomenal success with their DS handheld gaming console and dominates Sony’s Playstation Portable in the Japanese market. It would be interesting to see how well they can compete against the PS 3 with their Revolution gaming console.
Nintendo’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, Reggie Fils-Aime said in a statement: “We will sell more units than Xbox 360 did here in the United States in our launch window. I mean, in December, we sold more GameCubes in the United States than Microsoft sold 360s, and Revolution will do better than that.”
