Microsoft lowers sales expectations of Xbox 360
Software giants Microsoft have finally admitted that they would not be able to meet their original targets with sales of the Xbox 360 gaming consoles. The company has now lowered their 90-day Xbox 360 sales forecast. The supplies have been hit by delays from component suppliers leading to shortage of sales at the retail counters.
However, the company still expects to sell around 4.5 million and 5.5 million video game consoles by the end of June. This is when the company expects to face new competition from gaming consoles from Sony and Nintendo. Sony is due to launch their Playstation 3 gaming console and Nintendo would be releasing their Revolution console.
Microsoft claims that they have sold around 1.5 million units of the Xbox 360 in its December quarter and are expecting to increase this figure to 2.5 million units by late February. Xbox 360 saw a blockbuster launch in the United States and European markets. However, the demand was disappointing low in the Japanese market which is the home of both Sony and Nintendo.
