Nintendo DS as a Portable TV
Nintendo has just announced their deal with Opera Software, which would see the Norway based software company develop a web browser product for the Nintendo DS platform. The company had another announcement for their fans and this might be pretty significant.
Nintendo said in a statement that their portable gaming machine Nintendo DS would soon be able to work as a portable TV with a card equipped with a tuner and antenna. This would allow the DS users to watch digital broadcast.
However, the company might limit this digital TV broadcast to their Japanese customers. The web browser support would be targeted at the audiences worldwide. The company however, did not disclose the dates or pricing for the digital broadcast.
The web browser application developed by Opera Software is expected to come out by June this year.
