Sony Playstation 3 to get PS3 HUB
It has been now confirmed that the owners of the upcoming Sony Playstation 3 gaming console are expected to get an official online gaming service powered by Sony itself. The service is due to be called Sony Playstation HUB.
This online service would offer PlayStation 3 owners much the same services as Xbox Live. This could include chatting, downloadable demos, independent games, and online play. It is also expected to support the Sony PSP gaming platform, which is a hit amongst lowers of portable gaming devices.
PS HUB is expected to be a ’subscriber service’ and should invite a subscription free in a similar fashion to Microsoft’s Xbox Live service. The company is rumored to be pushing all media content to be available for distribution over PlayStation HUB, which might include music as well as videos.
This can help Sony to counter the competition provided by both Apple iTunes and Microsoft Xbox Live service. The company however has still denied that they have decided upon a particular launch date for the PS3 gaming console.
