PlayStation 3 to come when Sony is prepared

We have seen Microsoft fumbling around with their recently launched Xbox 360 gaming console. The company failed to maintain a continues supply in the market leading to shortage of consoles in the market. And some users even reported overheating problems with the initial units, which the software giant has apparently fixed by issuing suitable instructions for the Xbox 360 owners.

Sony wants to play it safe now that the initial hype around the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console has somewhat settled. The company had already announced that they are looking at spring 2006 for the launch of the upcoming Sony Playstation 3 gaming console and we still have no definite day for its launch.

The clear message is that the company would only ship this much-awaited gaming console when they are fully prepared. There is no need to hurry now that the market has settled down and the gamers would themselves like to avoid an Xbox 360 sort of situation with the PS3.

Another major reason for the delay has been the inclusion of the Blu-Ray drive in this device, a format which is a competitor for Toshiba’s HD DVD format supported by Microsoft. The company also believes that they have to release a console which is very hard to pirate. Tetsuhiko Yasuda, managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment Asia said in a statement during the Taipei Game Show: “We want to be completely prepared when we bring PlayStation 3 to the marketplace. Our No. 1 competition is not other companies but counterfeiters. We want to work with governments to stop this.”
