S2 Games to try web distribution for “Savage 2: A Tortured Soul”

It seems that the future is bleak for videogame retailers are more and more publishers are trying out the internet way of distributing games to prospective customers. The latest in the line is S2 Games which has announced that they plan to sell its new title “Savage 2: A Tortured Soul” exclusively through Web downloads this October.

The company would be testing a new delivery system that both independent computer game makers and industry behemoths are trying. This would help the company cut costs on packaging, shipping, and dealer margins. Gamers would benefit, as the publisher would be able to pass on these discounts to them.

The fact that broadband connectivity has become a common place in most targeted markets has also helped these companies to seriously consider this mode of delivering the games to their prospective customers.

In case of this latest game to be launched by S2 Games, players will be able to download the entire game to their computers. The company would also provide an online game playing facility to their customers.
