Nvidia aiming at expanding market share this year
NVIDIA and ATI are the two dominating players in the graphic card market and are always taking on each other by releasing new technologies and products. Nvidia has now said that they are aiming at expanding their market share this year by launching new affordable products aimed at the masses.
The company is also planning to double sales for laptops and mobile phones with their products. Nvidia already has a market share of 52% compared to their rivals ATI with 48% market share. A company spokesperson said that they are targeting to achieve market share of 60% by the end of the year.
Michael Hara, vice president of investor relations said in a statement: “With ATI’s new products … people were thinking Nvidia would lose market share, so Nvidia thinking they can increase market share at this level is positive. That shows the confidence the company has in not just keeping market share stable but increasing market share.”
They are also expecting that the launch of Vista operating system this year would boost the sales of higher end graphic cards.
