Microsoft collaborates with Epic Records over Xbox 360
Software giants and the developers of the Xbox 360 gaming console Microsoft has announced that they are entering into a partnership with Epic Records. This deal would see Xbox 360 gamers getting a year of free music videos and other content from artists signed to Epic Records.
This deal requires Epic Records to feature 12 of its artists on a program dubbed Artist of the Month. Users of Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console would be able to access them on the Microsoft Xbox Live entertainment network.
The two companies however declined to reveal the financial details behind the deal. Microsoft however confirmed that the Xbox Live members would now be able to download exclusive music videos free. They would also be able to compete for a chance to play an online game against the Epic recording artists.
Interestingly, Epic Records is a unit of Sony BMG Music Entertainment, which is further connected to Sony Corp who are currently developing the rival gaming console Sony Playstation 3.
