Microsoft Xbox 360 a hit in Australian market

Software giants Microsoft have just launched their next generation gaming console Xbox 360 in the Australian market and it has been a huge success. Xbox 360 has outsold all the existing gaming consoles available on sale in the market in Australia.

As per incoming reports, Microsoft has sold as many as 30,421 units of Xbox 360 consoles in the first four days of the launch. In addition, as many as 60,000 units of videogames for this console were sold.

Xbox 360 broke the record of Nintendo GameCube, which sold 9,190 in its first week on the shelves in May 2002. In comparison, Sony PlayStation sold just around 3,366 units over an equivalent period in November 2000.

Sony was however more successful with their portable gaming console PSP handheld device, which sold 27,055 units in its first week last year. market research analysts added that Call of Duty 2, Ghost Recon 3 and Project Gotham Racing 3 were the most popular titles during the week, with the top ten console games sold all being Xbox titles.

The top ten games sold during this week were:
Call of Duty 2 (Xbox 360)
Ghost Recon 3 Advanced (Xbox 360)
Project Gotham Racing 3 (Xbox 360)
Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion (Xbox 360)
