Sony Playstation 3 to cost between 499 and 599 euros?

The word is out on the street. Vice President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe George Fornay has apparently revealed the pricing structure of their upcoming next generation gaming console Sony Playstation 3 for the European market.

As per incoming reports, Fornay said that the company is planning to launch the PS3 gaming console in the European market between the pricing structure of 499 and 599 euros. If we convert this figure to dollars, the price of the Playstation 3 gaming console comes to around $613-$736.

This is a rather high price to pay for the Sony’s next Playstation console considering Microsoft is selling their Xbox 360 at a relatively cheap price. However, videogame console makers have traditionally sold consoles at higher prices in the European market, so the US market might get a cheaper price tag for the Playstation 3 gaming console.

Sony has already clarified that they would be selling only one version of this console that would include the hard disk. Therefore, it is essential that the price is competitive enough to challenge the market currently dominated by Microsoft and their Xbox 360 gaming console.
