New Xbox division chief says Microsoft is committed to Japan
Takashi Sensui is the new head of the Microsoft Corp.’s Japanese Xbox division and he has clearly restated his company’s determination to achieve success in the Japanese market where the initial demand for the Xbox 360 gaming console has been very disappointing.
Microsoft is now preparing for fresh assault in this market as they plan to triple the number of Xbox 360 games available in this market. Xbox 360 has been massively successful in the US and European market but the first three months of this console in Japan has been less than impressive.
The company sold just around 1,415 of the consoles in the week of March 20 to 26. This put Xbox 360 behind the second-generation Nintendo Game Cube and Sony PlayStation 2. However, Microsoft has been talking about how serious they are about the Xbox 360 console in this market since quite sometime. Nothing much has happened in the past couple of weeks.
Microsoft failed to impress the Japanese gamers by supplying few games, which catered to the local market. They are now planning to overcome this shortcoming as they prepare for the launch of the competing gaming console from Sony, the Playstation 3. It is scheduled for launch sometime later this year and is much awaited in the home market of the entertainment giant.
