Nintendo Revolution is now Nintendo Wii!
Japanese videogame console maker Nintendo has officially named the Revolution gaming console as ‘Nintendo Wii’. Wii in the name is pronounced just like ‘We’ and the company says that they want to portray that this console would be for everyone.
Nintendo said in a statement on this decision to name the console Nintendo Wii: “While the code-name ‘Revolution’ expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.”
The statement further said: “Wii will put people more in touch with their games … and each other. But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean? Wii sounds like ‘we’, which emphasises this console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.”

However, the problem is that most people would be just disappointed with this name. Revolution was a great name in our opinion. A lot of people liked it. It would be interesting to see how they respond to the new name Nintendo Wii!
