ATI Technologies acquires Bitboys Oy
Graphic hardware makers ATI Technologies Inc. have announced their decision to acquire privately held Bitboys Oy.
Bitboys is based in Finland and specializes in developing graphics technologies. The deal is worth around USD 44 million.
However, the final value of this deal would be based on certain performance-related conditions to be met by Bitboys.
Bitboys has around 40 employees and they would now be merged with ATI’s handheld business unit. The merged unit would form the key design centre for the graphics software designer in Europe.
Paul Dal Santo, general manager of ATI’s handheld business unit said in a statement on this deal: “Bitboys dovetails into ATI perfectly. Handsets are transitioning to hardware acceleration for graphics and multimedia, and the Bitboys team will play a critical role as we drive this key inflection point to make ATI the platform of choice for content providers.”
