The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion gets a mature rating

Bethesda Softworks, the developer and co-publisher of the recently launched video gaming title “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion” video game have said that they would not be recalling this title but just re-labeling it to reflect a stricter “mature” industry rating.

The rating for the game was updated from a teen status to mature by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) on Wednesday. They said that the game had excessive gore and a mod file enabled players to change the file settings to make the female characters appear topless.

Bethesda has said that they would be working with co-publisher 2K Games to put new “mature” rating stickers on “Oblivion” packaging now in stores and warehouses. The rating would of course be reflected in the packaging of the new units shipped to the markets.

The company added that they have no plans to contest this upgraded rating or to change the game play to get back the Teen rating.
